A review of old tweets deleted from the account of Natalie Harp, one of US President Donald Trump’s White House aides, has shed light on the extent of her support for him during the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
According to a CNN review of the deleted account, Harp posted more than 150 tweets that day, strongly defending Trump and promoting his narrative about the 2020 presidential election, in which he claimed without evidence that the election had been stolen from him.
Harp’s Strong Support for Trump
Harp, who was 29 at the time and worked as a host for One America News Network, was among Trump’s most vocal supporters on Twitter, now known as X. She described people attending the pro-Trump rally as “patriots.”
She also urged lawmakers to show the courage displayed by Trump’s supporters before posting statements endorsing what was known as the “Stop the Steal” slogan.
During Trump’s speech to his supporters near the White House, Harp repeatedly posted calls such as “FIGHT FOR TRUMP!” She also live-tweeted parts of his speech, insisting that the movement would not retreat or give up.
Support for Giuliani’s Controversial Remarks
Harp also promoted remarks made by Rudy Giuliani during the rally, including his call for what he described as “trial by combat.” Giuliani’s lawyers later said the phrase was hyperbolic and was not intended as a call for violence.
After Trump supporters stormed the Capitol and Congress suspended proceedings to certify the election results, Harp posted messages claiming that those involved in the riot were not Trump supporters. She also promoted reports alleging that members of the group Antifa had infiltrated the crowd.
Praising Republicans Who Challenged the Election Results
At the same time, Harp continued supporting efforts to challenge the election results. She praised several Republican lawmakers and senators who objected to counting electoral votes, describing them as “patriots” who had not backed down from their fight for Trump and the country.
The following day, after Trump publicly acknowledged that a new administration would take office, Harp reposted a message from the president saying that “our incredible journey is only just beginning.”
She then added a message of her own expressing her love and loyalty to Trump.
Her Support Predated January 6
The review of Harp’s tweets indicates that her support for Trump’s election narrative did not begin with the January 6 attack.
In the weeks leading up to the Capitol riot, she posted messages insisting that “truth” was on Trump’s side. She also described Joe Biden’s election victory as a “coup.”
Days after the election, Harp posted a message expressing her love for Trump. She later continued defending him during his 2019 impeachment proceedings, including by citing Bible verses in posts supporting the president.
Harp Returns to the Spotlight
Harp currently serves within Trump’s inner circle during his second presidential term, although she remained largely out of the public spotlight for years.
Her name resurfaced this week after Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff mentioned her during a speech criticizing Trump. Reports also emerged containing two letters attributed to Harp that expressed strong loyalty to the president.
