A video circulating on social media shows former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dancing inside a home improvement store in Montreal alongside American pop star Katy Perry, in a scene that has drawn widespread attention online.
The 54-year-old Trudeau was seen walking through the aisles of a Home Hardware store on Saint-Laurent Boulevard before breaking into a dance to a song playing over the store’s speakers.
Trudeau caught viewers’ attention when he appeared holding a toilet plunger in one hand, along with several shopping supplies, before continuing to dance as the song picked up pace.
Perry was filming the scene before turning the camera toward herself at one point in the video.
The video was posted by Trudeau’s 18-year-old son, Xavier Trudeau, who is pursuing a music career under the name “Xav.” The song featured in the video was his latest release, “Downtown,” which happened to be playing on Virgin Radio Montreal while his father and Perry were inside the store.
The post appears to have been part of an effort to promote the song, with Xavier encouraging his followers to share reaction videos and saying he would repost some of them.
The video has attracted hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of comments, with some viewers focusing on the security cameras visible inside the store.
The clip comes as Trudeau and Perry have been spotted together at several events over the past year, after their relationship began drawing widespread media attention, including appearances in Montreal and at events outside Canada.
